The chaste tree is just past its fullest glory. The late sun was lighting up the flowers, but then, a rainbow. Or two…

Waiting for this Black Beauty tomato to ripen…

He turned 65 today.

Digging for gold!

I made a dozen bouquets to share with my neighbors. I was so excited to start delivering them that I forgot to photograph the other six.

I finally found plants that will thrive by the AC unit, where they get full shade in the morning and baking full sun in the afternoon — Rudbeckia, Yarrow ‘Cerise Queen’, and Eryngium ‘Blue Glitter’. I’m also cultivating a wall of Big Bluestem grass in hope of keeping the AC unit in shade.

Such abundance in the spring garden —
I love Baptisia, the center purple spike. It’s a native plant that’s beautiful all season long, and both the flowers and foliage last well in a vase. I wish the roses would.
One day, I saw Mr. and Mrs. E next door out digging their garden for the spring. I wasn’t having that. 😉
I love my Tilla from Manilla! (OK, we really got it in Jarrettsville.)

Tomatoes
Greens and Sweet Peas
Snapdragon and Potatoes

… you come home and find a bale of hay on the porch.

The flower harvesting cups are washed and ready to store for the winter. *sigh*
